Conflict is one of the plausible self-deceptions of life.  It seems sensible to set the record straight and correct people who aren’t doing things the way you feel is right.  Unfortunately, your need to be right is the formula for perpetual conflict. 

When you are committed to always being right and to always doing the right thing, you infer the rest of the world is wrong if they don’t agree with you.  Unfortunately, the probability you are always right, and the rest of the world is always wrong, is zero.  You definitely are right some of the time.  If you work hard at it, you may be right most of the time.  However, you will never be right one hundred percent of the time.  It’s impossible, and isn’t worth the effort.  When the need to be right consumes you, you live a life of perpetual conflict.

The world doesn’t need a critic or a judge, but it does need your love.  When your heart is full of love, negative and judgmental thinking fades.  When you take the initiative and send love to everyone, conflict fades as well.

The path of conflict is usually a mistake, and the path of compromise usually leads to positive action that benefits everyone.  After living for many years in the Middle East, I am convinced conflict always makes situations worse.  It polarizes the mind and demonizes your brothers and sisters who have different ethnic and religious backgrounds. 

The roots of conflict are deeply buried in the traditions of justice.  An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth guarantees that conflicts will eternally continue tit for tat.  Middle Eastern history graphically illustrates the futility of using conflict as a method for resolving the injustices of life.
